Jean-Francois Millet's famous painting, Shepherdess with Her Flock, depicts a figure of a young woman in a peaceful, serene as well as a melodious scene in the vast fields tending to her flock of sheep. She holds a long stick on her hands. Wearing a cape made from cotton and a jacket that is red in colour, the young shepherdess - probably a figure representing Miller's own daughter is standing in front of a flock of sheep that she is tending. While standing in front of her flock, she goes on with knitting and keeps looking down at the what is making. In an unchanging landscape extending, unbound, to the horizon, she appears lonely with the flock of sheep is tending. The flock of sheep creates a patch of smoothly rising and falling light, that reflects the bright rays of the disappearing sun. Miller's Shepherdess with Her Flock painting portrays a scene that includes an excellent combination of preciseness and desolation. The artist was able to include even the minutest aspects of the picture, such as the small flowers seen in the foreground of the painting. Miller leverages, in a perfect way, the complete melodiousness of blues, reds, as well as the golds in the scene. The painting was created on canvas material and using high-quality oil paints. Millet started thinking and being creative about painting a picture of a shepherdess tending and caring for her sheep from the year 1862. He never shared his thoughts with anybody at the time. After completing the painting, Millet exhibited this painting, Shepherdess with Her Flock, at the 1864 Salon, and it was readily accepted. It was termed as a masterpiece painting by some while others called it an exquisite painting. This exceptional painting that depicted peaceful and serene scenes inspired those who love pictures of idyllic countryside scene. Jean-Francois Millet relocated and settled in Barbizon town in the year 1849, and he was born and raised in a farming family. He was later trained how to paint by another painter in Paris. Having acquired the skill of painting, Millet spent most of his early days in his painting career, creating nude and erotic portraits. He was also influenced by the evolution brought by the rise in industrialization as well as urbanization. Later, Millet started painting pictures with scenes of peasants farming, furnishing them with heroic form acquired from historical artistry. Due to his new style and choice of painting peasant farmers, who political conservatives of the time perceived to be disruptive in the community, Millet was politically attacked and praised in equal measure.
