White and Yellow Chrysanthemums

The White and Yellow Chrysanthemums is one of the most celebrated works of Gustave Caillebotte in the art industry. This is a painting of one of the most popular plants in France by then and it is complementary to Gustave Caillebotte's lifelong interest as a gardener. This special artwork represents flowers that the artist cultivated on one of his properties at a small town on the Seine called Petit-Gennevilliers in the northwest of Paris. In France, chrysanthemums were celebrated for their bright colours and were associated with the Far East.
