The White and Yellow Chrysanthemums is one of the most celebrated works of Gustave Caillebotte in the art industry. This is a painting of one of the most popular plants in France by then and it is complementary to Gustave Caillebotte's lifelong interest as a gardener. This special artwork represents flowers that the artist cultivated on one of his properties at a small town on the Seine called Petit-Gennevilliers in the northwest of Paris. In France, chrysanthemums were celebrated for their bright colours and were associated with the Far East. The White and Yellow Chrysanthemums by Gustave Caillebotte is an amazing piece of art dated back to the year 1893. The painting displays a densely packed blossom of white and yellow chrysanthemums which relates to Gustave Caillebotte's design of plant images ornamented on dining room doors. The dimensions of the original artwork are 81 cm x 65 cm however this specific piece has seen several reproductions some with different dimensions. Gustave Caillebotte used the oil technique and canvas as the medium while painting the White and Yellow Chrysanthemums. After completing this artwork, it was exhibited at the Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris, France from which the painting has been reproduced and sold all over Europe and beyond. Among the most popular reproductions of the White and Yellow Chrysanthemums by Caillebotte is the 39 1/8 × 24 1/4 in. (99.4 × 61.6 cm) which is on view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 824 8under the accession number 2014.736. Other reproductions are also available with different dimensions including 20"x30",24"x36" among many others. As an artist, Gustave Caillebotte inluenced and inspired other artists that he interacted with during the impressionist time. Gustave Caillebotte developed his desire and love for art during his early stages in life as a boy and natured it in the Leon Bonnat where he majored his studies in painting. However, as much as Caillebotte's fascination with floral subjects only developed in the 1880s, the White and Yellow Chrysanthemums painting is a representation of Gustave's commitment to art and his love for impressionism.
