The painting was done in 1765 and sold for £22,441,250, becoming the third most valuable old painting sold at an auction.

The works of George Stubbs have never failed to capture the eye of anyone interested in painting. He's working on phone painting the environment and giving a detailed description of horses. You can easily guess that George Stubs is the one responsible behind a painting especially if it has a horse in it. This is because most of his pieces of art have horses. The picture usually features a horse with a short tail.

Most of his painting focus on the environment and horses that are in the paint. Such sketches include the Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath with a Trainer a Stable Lad and a Jockey. The painting features a total of seven characters. From the sketch, we can see that a group of characters having fun on their horses most probably racing. The jockeys are participating in a racing activity which can be a training exercise; this is so since there is no crowd at the background cheering at them. From the painting, you can see that there's one who's leading and is assumed to be good. However, the piece of art also has another individual who is not riding his horse. It is safe to conclude that his horse might have gotten injured during the training process.

The foreground of the picture features a total of three characters one who's holding the horse, as the other is examining the horse while the other a jockey since he is dressed like one. This makes us conclude that the horse on the foreground belongs to the third character on the foreground. We can also say that his horse might have gotten injured during the process and needed care from the vets. The painting enables us to conclude that the person tending to the house might be a vet and vet or an ex-professional athlete well knowledge about horses.

From the Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath with a Trainer a Stable Lad and a Jockey painting, the artist describes to us the duration to which the picture was done. The painting was taken during sunset since at the background we can see a beautiful sunset. The artist clearly describes the clouds in the painting, not leaving behind any detail concerning the environment where the painting was done.
